THE big time beckons for a Barnoldswick girl, now based in Milan and taking the international fashion scene by storm.

Model Polly Brindle's successful career began when she was scouted in an Earby pub at the age of 16.

Since then, her popularity among bookers has soared, travelling to Athens, Paris, Germany and Barcelona on modelling jobs, working with singers Simon Webbe and Anastacia and being chosen for shoots for newspapers, magazines, designers and brands worldwide.

Polly (21) said: "Recently there has been a lot of speculation about the size zero craze in the industry and coverage on models who have died from eating disorders.

"Being in this industry it is easy to have a distorted perception on what is a 'normal' size, and there is pressure to stay slim, but I make regular trips back home to see friends and family who give me their honest advice and remind me there is more to life than the fashion industry and calorie counting!"

A former pupil of Fisher-More High School, Colne, Polly's first love was dancing, and she trained in ballet from the age of four at Jane Wheeler's dance school, Barn-oldswick.

Polly,
whose father, Geoff, is an architect and mother Clare a postwoman in Barnoldswick, completed an A-Level in performing arts at Nelson and Colne College, progressing on to a National Diploma in performing arts at Accrington and Rossendale College.

She grew up on Fernbank Avenue with sister Ellen (22) and brother Harvey (16), who is studying at Nelson and Colne College.

She said: "I love my job and feel very lucky that I'm able to do this, but it's definitely not as glamourous as people think. I spent a lot of time alone in different countries, but for me, the positives by far outweigh the negatives.

"I'm a 21-year-old girl travelling the world, learning new languages and cultures, meeting amazing people and seeing incredible places, all while earning a living.

"I know I'm really lucky to be able to do that and I am making the most of it, as I realise it could all be over tomorrow."
