Clothing, footwear and accessories have been viciously attacked by a classic print this spring: stripes. Vertical, horizontal and colourful, the linear spring/summer staple has made a strong impact on the fashion world.
So, how do you wear stripes? It’s simple; stripes work best horizontally, and though the rules state that vertical lines are slimming and elongate the shape, this season is all about getting nautical with your linear look. Team a horizontally striped sweater with tailored shorts and some lace-up plimsolls, and you are good to go.
Designers have used a variety of textures and fabrics in striped patterns to create a more exciting and playful approach to clothes and accessories.
Even the Swedes have jumped onboard to take the stripe challenge with one of their biggest fashion brands, Vagabond. The Brits have embraced the trend and have added their unique touch to the look.
